Most home inspections in the metro take two to three hours on site, though the exact time depends on the home's size, age, and condition. A newer townhome in a Dakota County subdivision might run closer to two hours, while a large Saint Paul Victorian with a finished basement, multiple porches, a detached garage, and a century of additions can take four hours or more. Older bungalows and pre-war homes throughout Ramsey and Hennepin counties also take longer because there are simply more components to evaluate and more years of wear to document. If we're adding services like radon testing, a sewer scope, or, on a property out in greater Minnesota, a well or septic evaluation, plan for additional time, and note that radon requires a test device left in place for at least 48 hours.
