What we see in Lindstrom homes.

Lindstrom was settled mostly by Swedish immigrants and a few Norwegian families. Daniel Lindstrom arrived from Sweden in 1853, the community was platted in 1880, became a village in 1894 and incorporated as a city in 1908. It covers 3.885 square miles, had 4,888 residents at the 2020 census, and contains North and South Lindstrom Lake plus Center Lakes and Kroon Lake. Statues of Karl Oskar and Kristina from Vilhelm Moberg's novels stand in town, and Karl Oskar Days is held each July. The housing runs from older lake-town homes near the lakes to newer growth at the edges.

Older Lindstrom homes near the lakes get inspected for moisture first: grading, gutters, foundation walls, window wells, sump pumps and any staining in basements or crawlspaces. Older houses can also carry original wiring and plumbing, older roofs and additions of different ages, and, in the oldest pre-1950 homes, possible knob-and-tube remnants. On the newer edges, attic ventilation, roof flashing, decks and grading that has settled are the common findings.
