Popcorn packing by Bango and Jolly Time was the town's main industry through the middle of the last century and the plants left in the 1980s, so many houses date from the decades when the town was busiest. Houses from the 1950s through the 1970s tend to have their own issues: aluminum branch wiring in some homes from the mid-1960s to early 1970s, older panels with add-on breakers, original galvanized supply lines and old asphalt roofs.
